MECEO 2024 Scholarship Application

An announcement to all MD TRIO program will be made via email when the 2024 MECEO Scholarship is released.

2023 SCHOLARSHIP GENERAL GUIDELINES

  1. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an Educational Opportunity Center, Ronald E. McNair  Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, Student Support Services, Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound or Upward Bound Math/Science Program.

  2. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a postsecondary institution for 2023-2024 Academic Year.

  3. Applicants must show evidence of academic growth or potential by submitting an official transcript or an unofficial transcript that has been verified by a TRIO staff member with your application packet.

  4. Applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from the sponsoring TRIO program which highlights academic potential, growth and personal qualities.

  5. The TRIO staff member must be a current MECEO member or the TRIO program must have a MECEO subscription.

  6. Applicants must also complete specific program type requirements.

  7. Applications should submit all required documentation together.

Specific Applicant Requirements

  1. Applicants must submit high school transcript and SAT/ACT scores.

  2. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from one high school academic instructor or guidance counselor.

  3. ETS/EOC applicants must be a program participant for a minimum of one (1) year upon completion of the current project year. (Exceptions will be given for newly 2 funded programs.) UB applicants must be a program participant for a minimum of two (2) years upon the completion of the current project year. (Exceptions will be given for newly funded programs.)

 

Applicants must complete at least:

  • 3 academic math credits (Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, etc.)

  • 4 English credits

  • 3 science credits (biology1 and 2, chemistry 1 and 2, physics, earth science, physical science or life science)

  • 3 social studies credits ( U.S. History, World History, government (American or local or state)

  • 2 foreign language or technology credits

  • Applicants must have a minimum high school grade point average of 75 or 2.50. The high school G.P.A. should be calculated only on grades in major subjects (e.g. English, mathematics, science, history and foreign language) and computed from the mid-year of the sophomore year to the second quarter of the senior year.

  1. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from one academic instructor. (EOC applicants should submit one letter of recommendation from a community or professional affiliate (clergy, social worker, former employer, etc.)

  2. Applicants must be program participant for at least two semesters or three quarters upon completion of the current fall semester or third quarter.

  3. Applicants must successfully complete a minimum of twelve credits hours while enrolled in the program.

  4. Applicants must have a minimum G.P.A. of 2.50.

  5. EOC applicants must be 19 years of age or older.

  6. EOC must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a postsecondary institution.
